According to a study based on a report made by ‘PlumChoice’ and the ‘Z-Wave Alliance’ shows that in 2015, only 67% of consumers showed that they knew what a smart home and smart device is.
However, one year later in 2016, 97% of consumers said that they recognize the smart home concept. It is understandable that every year consumers become more knowledgeable and interested in smart home and its devices. About a third of people would prefer a hub that would connect all smart devices and control all of them using a single application. Interoperability is an essential factor in the smart home as consumers are adding more interconnected smart devices.
For instance, in the year 2015 and 2016 half of all interviewed consumers said that smart home devices are not necessary, and the value is not known. The study suggests that consumers still have a lack of knowledge of smart home benefits and that there is a necessity to educate and support consumers to fully understand the value.
Another difficulty that smart home is having is technology integration and compatibility issues between connected smart devices and data sharing between different companies. In other words, companies do not collaborate with each other which leads to smart home technology deceleration.
We have good news! We can offer technology integration and compatibility it doesn’t matter of the business nature. We at Starlink Development create unique and complex IoT systems where data is being shared between different sensors or companies.
